Enrichment, Student Leadership and Music lessons (Co-curriculum)

Get involved in the wider school community and take part in one (or more!) of our clubs. There is something to suit all tastes!

Enrichment Activities take place between 3.15pm - 4.15pm Monday to Friday.

During the first week in September your form tutor will be discussing Autumn Term enrichment opportunities. You will receive a timetable explaining the times and dates of each activity. Enrichment activities are on rotation allowing for you to take part in as many as you can during the Academic Year.

Get Ahead Club

  • There is also the opportunity to have study assistance including homework, coursework and revision support Monday - Friday. Students are assisted with their homework after school and have access to facilities such as ICT.

Student Council and Leadership roles.

  • As a leadership specialist academy we encourage leadership skills in all of our students. To find out how you can join the student council and for up to date information click here

House System

  • When you join us you will be placed in to a 'house', with the rest of your form. You and your form will represent one of the houses, eg, 7B will all be in Byron House. You will have opportunities to take part in a variety of both sporting and non sporting events, earning house points for your team.

Music Tuition

Music Peri lessons are free here at Kearsley Academy. We believe that every child has the right to learn an instrument and we are building upon the 'wider opportunities' work that takes place at Key Stage 2.
We have strong links with Bolton Music Service and all students can access free personal tuition in whatever instrument they choose. We have found that accessing music in this way contributes positively to the personal and academic development of students.

We surveyed Year 7 2013
• 90% of Year 7 takes part in the enrichment programme.
• 94% of Year 7 takes part in two or more enrichment activities.
• 44% of Year 7 has at least one peripatetic music lesson.
• = 90% of Year 7 takes part in extending their learning opportunities through skills development.
