Transition information - a 'smooth move' for your child.

As well as ensuring a welcome start here to the academy, in 2013 we were successful in ensuring that we secured progress from key stage 2 that was above national average.

At Kearsley Academy we understand that you want the best continuity and progress for your child, which is why we are working closely with our partner Primary Schools in ensuring we get it right. We want the best for our new students in all areas of their new school life.

The Year 7 team

We have a designated transition mentor - Ms S Meade, who works closely with our Assistant principal, Mr N. Darlington to ensure that all students needs are cared for. We also have Ms J. Connor, who is the Achievement Leader for Year 7 as well as a great team of experienced transition form tutors, and learning mentor.

Working with our partner primary schools- ensuring progress from Key Stage 2 -3 / Year 6 - 7.

The transition process starts early in Year 6, as well as opportunities for year groups throughout our partner primary schools to work with us in a variety of ways. We have a successful Primary Liaison partnership with Primary Schools as well as an established Transition programme for Year 6 that ‘bridges the gap’ between Key Stage 2 and 3. Kearsley Academy staff are experts in smoothing the transition to a Secondary School in both pastoral and academic areas. In 2013 we were successful in ensuring that we secured progress from key stage 2 that was above national average.
We work closely with the primary schools to ensure we know your child's needs both academically and socially on arrival. The starting point for our new students is already informed and the feedback from students and parents is always extremely positive.
